What is Red Shirt Day for Easter Seals?
Red Shirt Day of Action for AccessAbility and Inclusion is a day when people across Canada come together and wear red to create a visible display of solidarity: to show their support for disabled people and their families, celebrate the achievements of disabled Canadians, and to pledge their commitment to help create a fully accessible and inclusive society.

Easter Seals Red Shirt Day 2024 is on Wednesday, May 29th. Wear your red shirts in support!!

Dim the Lights!
Dimming the lights at night at your home is a crucial step in safeguarding migratory birds. Every year, billions of birds embark on their journey north in spring and south in fall, often flying during the night. However, as they pass over populated areas, artificial lights can disorient them, leading to detours, energy depletion, and collisions with buildings or windows. Do your part and DIM THE LIGHTS!

NO MOW MAY!
The goal of "No Mow May" is to pause mowing lawns during May to allow flowering plants to help provide food for pollinators. Early spring is a time where floral resources are often limited for pollinators, especially in urban and suburban landscapes. Again, let's do our part and allow the pollinators to do their job!

BGC Ottawa Morning Social
On Thursday, May 16th David H, Tom and Rosemary attended the BGC Ottawa Morning Social at the Taggart Parkes Family Clubhouse on Heatherington Road. It was an uplifting and entertaining morning. There were many beautiful stories about how BGC Ottawa has positively influenced youth. This year, the focus was all about family - the one you have, the one you choose and the one you find at BGC Ottawa. Adam Joiner, Chief Executive Officer, thanks the doners for their generous giving. Morning Social raised $628K to help BGC Ottawa give kids a brighter future.
