Announcements

  • After many years with RCOS, including several as President, Joan Hunter will be transferring to RC Nepean South. She will remain a Friend of RCOS and we're looking forward to closer ties between our club and Nepean South. Joan's energy and guidance will certainly be missed!
Kateri Clark, chair of the Membership Committee presents a comprehensive plan to engage current members and recruit new prospects.

Many RCOS members have been working on the plan for several months. Under Kateri's guidance, and using resources from rotary.org, the committee has developed a good strategic plan to help grow our club, and to keep members involved and feeling fulfilled.

Membership is the lifeblood of any organization and requires the support and involvement of everyone. We all benefit from a vibrant club and look forward to the plan's implementation.
Members of the Rotary Club of Ottawa South discuss the importance of membership and the draft Membership Strategic Plan presented to the club.
RCOS Environmental Committee Enviro Tip
Environmental Hygiene
Provided by Bill Kelly

By learning what constitutes clean living from an environmental standpoint, we can extend our personal hygiene standards to include how clean we are from a carbon footprint and biodiversity standpoint.

Just as with our personal hygiene choices, we can have our own standards, but not expect perfection of ourselves nor demand that others meet our standards. We do not need to judge or be judged by our personal environmental choices.  We do need to have the knowledge to establish personal environmental hygienic standards and strive to do the best we can as responsible citizens to meet those standards.

This will allow us to be better environmental advocates while giving us the ability to make the personal choices that comprise good environmental stewardship.

To learn more about what might constitute good environmental hygiene, visit www.projectdrawdown.org to learn about environmental challenges and how your personal choices can help provide for a more sustainable and clean planet.
