It’s Kateri’s birthday! We sang her an upbeat version of happy birthday!
David G informed us that Rotary Ottawa South had a birthday on May 22. Our club was formed in 1967 and we are 56 years old!
Community Blend Coffee Update:
1. The Rotary Club of Sittsville has ordered 12 bags of coffee.
2. Happy Goat has begun roasting the coffee beans for the coffee we will be including in the golf gift bags for our tournament.
High School Bursary Lunch - June 14: One of the best meetings of the year, come meet the recipients of our high school bursaries and hear about their accomplishments and ambitions. Scott is preparing the certificates for the recipients and David O is preparing the cheques.

Golf – The tournament is less than two weeks away. Keep pushing the revenue generators; i.e. foursomes, tee signs, auction items. Next Golf Committee meeting is Wednesday, 31 May at 11:30am at KS.
Membership – The Installation of new club members will take place next Wednesday, 31 May at 12:30 pm, in person, at KS.
Rotary Family and Friends Picnic and St. Lawrence Theatre Festival Performance - July 15: On Saturday, July 15, 2023 we'd love for you, your family and friends to join us at the beautiful RiverWalk Park in Prescott, Ontario for a zero-waste picnic followed by a performance at the St. Lawrence Shakespeare Theatre Festival (optional). Please let us know you will be joining us by completing our Family and Friends Picnic and St. Lawrence Theatre Festival Play Sign up Form before June 9, 2023. As of today, only one person has signed up for the event. If we do not have more people interested in the event, we will cancel the event.

Cleaning Up the Capital: We'll be cleaning up the roadside around Rotary Way and Bank Street (by the Ottawa Rotary Home) on Saturday, May 27 at 9 AM. Don your work gloves, dress appropriately and meet us for some good cleaning fun!
‘What’s Your Carbon Footprint’?

Why should you calculate my carbon footprint?
First and foremost to get an idea of how much energy you typically use and inform yourself as to how you might reduce that. AND, it will help our club qualify for the District 7040 EnviroClub Awards.
The EnviroClub Awards are a progressive, criteria-based system, where RCOS has already achieved “Bronze” status, and we are now looking to progress to the “Silver” level (and ultimately to the “Gold” level).
50% or more of Club Members must sign up and participate in the “Carbon Footprint Challenge” for RCOS to get to the Silver level. WE NEED YOUR HELP!! WE would like 100% of our members to participate.
It only takes 10 minutes and can be quite an eye-opener, it's really interesting. Please use one of the following carbon calculators to calculate your carbon footprint.
