Weekly Meeting - February 11, 2026

It was wonderful to have Fay Campbell and Bill Kelly join us online. They are enjoying their time in warmer climates, and we’re definitely not feeling any envy!

This weekend is a weekend of celebration with families and loved ones. Wishing everyone a happy Valentine's Day and Happy Family Day!

The province of British Columbia has declared Thursday, February 12th as a day of mourning following the terrible tragedy that took place in Tumbler Ridge this past week. In a show of solidarity,  flags across Canada were lowered to half-staff on Wednesday. Prime Minister Mark Carney, along with other national leaders paid their respects in Parliament with speeches and a moment of silence. Our deepest condolences go out to the families and people who have been affected by this act of violence.

On Tuesday, June 2, 2026, Rotary Ottawa South will once again host its annual Charity Golf Day—a fantastic mix of friendly competition, great food, fun, and community spirit.

Supporting Rotel

This year, proceeds from the tournament will support Rotel, a charitable organization providing comfortable, affordable accommodation for patients, families, and medical visitors who need to stay near The Ottawa Hospital and CHEO.

Located close to The Ottawa Hospital General Campus, Rotel offers clean, private rooms in a safe and supportive environment—helping reduce stress during what is often one of the most difficult times in a person’s life.

For over 35 years, Rotel has supported individuals from across Eastern Ontario, Western Quebec, and across Canada. By participating in this tournament, you are helping ensure that no patient or family has to choose between being close to critical medical care and being able to afford a place to stay. Your support directly helps keep Rotel accessible to those who need it most.

The Tournament

Just like in past years, the tournament will be an 18-hole scramble with a 1:00 p.m. shotgun start at The Meadows Golf and Country Club.

Your registration includes:

  • BBQ lunch & seated dinner

Strategic Planning Session

On Saturday, January 31, 2026, the members of Rotary Ottawa South met for a comprehensive strategic planning session that lasted most of the day. The session was marked by a wealth of ideas and in-depth discussions, resulting in a forward-looking plan. The atmosphere was full of excitement and energy, reflecting the group's enthusiasm for the initiatives ahead. A very productive and worthwhile session.

Update: All members have been sent a Summary of Discussion from our Strategic Planning Session via email (Feb 11th). Please review the notes and forward any comments to Tom. We will have an in person meeting in March to fully discuss the findings.
