Today's Discussion
Andre Errett is RCOS' new Program Chair and is intent on filling our schedule with interesting and strategic speakers. His goal is to provide engaging and topical speakers for members, other Rotarians and our community. To achieve this, he'll need our help.
Andre led a discussion on speakers. Several ideas were generated, including inviting club partners could share more about their projects and goals; golf tournament sponsors should be invited to speak so we can learn more about them and vice versa; environment-focused talks, perhaps sponsored by our Environment Committee; reserving one meeting per month for club business; leveraging Zoom to reach a larger audience as well as attract international speakers.
Under Andre's leadership and with everyone keeping an eye out for relevant and interesting speakers, RCOS is sure to host many memorable meetings in the coming months.
Member Induction
Rotary Club Ottawa South is thrilled to induct Malik Djinadou as a new member. Malik works with Shared Services Canada and is working on his MSc in health sciences. Pictured above are RCOS Membership Chair Kateri Clark, Malik Djinadou and RCPS President Dave Gough.
Dave Gough's Environmental Tips
From years of experience in dealing with vehicles, Dave suggests several ways to minimize your driving impact:
Change tires for safety and check pressure frequently.
Idle your vehicle for 5 minutes maximum - even on really cold days.
If you use a block heater for your vehicle, it only needs 1 hour prior to starting, so use a timer rather than leave it on all night.
