Rotarians are dedicated people who share a passion for both community service and friendship. It doesn’t matter who you are, regardless of race, gender, age or faith, if you have got a heart and mind for giving and helping communities and working with people then Rotary is for you!
We are open to individuals, families, corporations and organizations.
What Rotarians get out of Rotary depends largely on what they put into it!
We Are Rotary video
- Friendship. In an increasingly complex world, Rotary provides one of the most basic human needs: the need for friends and fellowship. It is one of the two reasons why Rotary began in 1905.
- Business Development. The second original reason for Rotary's beginning. Everyone needs to network. Rotary consists of a cross-section of every business in the community. Its members come from all walks of life. Rotarians help one another, and collectively help others.
- Personal Growth and Development. Membership in Rotary continues one's growth and education in human relations and personal development.
- Leadership Development. Rotary is an organization of leaders and successful people. Serving in Rotary positions is like a college education in Leadership: learning how to motivate, influence and lead other leaders.
- Citizenship in the Community. Membership in Rotary makes one a better community citizen. The average Rotary club consists of many of the most active citizens of any community.
- Continuing Education. Each week at Rotary there is a program designed to keep members informed about the community, the nation and the world. Different speakers, different topics.
- Fun. Rotary is fun. A lot of fun. The projects are fun; social activities are fun; and service to others is fun.
- Public Speaking. Many individuals who join Rotary are afraid to speak in public. Through our partnership with Toastmasters, Rotary develops confidence and public communications skills.
- Citizenship in the World. Every Rotarian wears a pin that says "Rotary International". And every Rotarian is welcome, in fact encouraged, to attend any of the more than 28,000 clubs in over 160 nations in the world. There are few places on the globe which do not have Rotary. Rotarians find instant friends in both their own community and anywhere in the world.
- Assistance when Travelling. Because Rotary is almost everywhere, Rotary offers amazing exchange programs (Rotary Youth Exchange, Rotary Friendship Exchange, New Generations Service Exchange) also those who need a doctor, lawyer, hotel, dentist, advice, etc. while travelling, can find someone quickly through Rotary.

Not ready to become a Rotarian? Be a Friend of Rotary
Being a “Friend of Rotary” allows those who share our ideals and objectives to participate in Rotary activities, without the responsibility (or the benefits) of a full membership. This is a perfect way for individuals who have limited time or who aren’t ready to make a commitment yet but have energy and a passion to improve your world, to get involved with Rotary.
We value our Rotary Friends and want to ensure that we connect with you regularly. If you are interested in volunteering and learning more about Rotary Ottawa South, please take a moment and tell us or Contact Us. We want to hear from you!
