RoTell - July 28, 2021

Rotary Club Ottawa South eBulletin

via Zoom
Editor: Scott Vetter, Assistant Editor: Rosemary Parker, Photographer: Robin Spencer

Announcements

  • Jeanine Parker received photos and letters from the girls at Birere Secondary School, see Photo Album linked below.
  • August 11 meeting at Rotel. Manager Suzy Harrison will be presented with the Paul Harris Fellow award. We'll have pizza and caesar salad in the garden, and those who haven't seen the motel can get a tour.
  • Eva Hammond commented that we should involve the Four Way test more in our meetings, perhaps reciting it at the beginning, and she has some handy business card 4-Way reminders.
  • David Oliver commented that Rotary should help lead the way in vaccinating the world for COVID. Hopefully governments and the international health community won't need an extra push to get the job done.
  • Next week's meeting will be in-person at KS on the Keys. President Dave will lead a discussion on how often we meet in person going forward.

Happy Bucks

Many happy tales of travel (keeping it local due to COVID) and enjoying time at cottages.

Get to Know - Robin Spencer

One thing we learned is that Robin can work an audience, even over Zoom. It was a delight to learn more about Robin and we all enjoyed his sense of humour.

Robin enjoys travelling and has done quite a bit, both with his family and on his own. It seems talking to strangers comes naturally to him.

A few fun facts: Robin has been in Rotary for 20 years, running his own full-time photo studio for 41 years, a vegetarian for 38 years, meditating for 51 years and wonderfully married for 44.

It all adds up to a rather interesting talk - another good reason to attend meetings and to spend some time chatting with Robin.

Rotary Club of Ottawa South members were happy, in fact LOL happy, to get to know fellow member Robin.

Don't miss our next meeting - live and in-person!
