Guests Julia Ginley (and grandson Grayson) Announcements - This was our first meeting under the reign of President Joan.
- Our club has 4 new members: Eva Hammond (already family), Dave Gough (returning home), Robin Spencer and Bill Kelly
- Unfortunately, due to work commitments, Luigi Maiorino has left the club. He will remain a friend of the club.
- A Youth and Mental Well-Bing Initiative is being proposed to the Rotaract Clubs (Ottawa and Ottawa South). It would be a Rotaract project with the RC Orleans as the primary Rotary contact. There may be ways for our club to assist, Scott will attend meetings and report.
- The Somali Hope Foundation virtual gala is Saturday July 11. If you miss the gala you can click their website donate button to make a contribution. This is their primary fundraiser to pay for the school and teachers.
- RCOS will hold a virtual meeting via Zoom every 2 weeks, next meeting is July 22.
Speaker Julia gave us an update on Dominica project. They've received a Rotary Global Grant and now have $104, 500 USD, $31,000 CDN was raised as seed funding with the help of RCOS. The program will create a sustainable learning environment with Smart classrooms at a Dominican State college as well as three others (one in Ottawa). This will allow trades students to continue their education and be certified without having to leave Dominica. Julia will keep us updated and let us know if there is still a role for our club to play. Joan ended the meeting at 1:30.
