What's Your Rotary Elevator Pitch?

Any salesperson has rehearsed their "elevator pitch" - promote your topic to engage and interest someone in just 30 seconds. How would you describe Rotary to a friend or someone you just met?

Kateri led us through an exercise that had us thinking, and talking, through the process. Some great ideas were voiced by those in attendance.

The biggest take-away is to consider the person you are speaking to - what might they want from Rotary? We all give to Rotary and Rotary provides funds, services, support to millions around the world. But each of the 1.4 million members of Rotary get something as well. Perhaps it is the social aspect and new friendships, the travel, leadership training, business and networking opportunities...

For every Rotarian and every prospect, there is something in it for them. The beauty of Rotary is that it is large and structured enough to provide something for everyone. So consider why you joined Rotary and indulge that. And when you're speaking to a prospective member, consider what is important to them and how Rotary might fulfill that.

A Reflective Rotary Moment from Kateri Clark

Endings are beginnings, and beginnings are ours to turn into something good. Start of the new Rotary year: People are leaving Rotary Ottawa South or are transferring to be Honourary Members, and things are changing with Rotary and sometimes change can be hard. More than a century ago, Rotary pioneered a new model of service leadership grounded in person-to-person connections. Today, those connections are a network that spans the globe—bridging cultural, linguistic, generational, and geographic barriers—and shares the vision of a better world. As People of Action, we understand that fulfilling that vision requires a plan. Rotary’s Action Plan through 2024 is to increase our impact, expand our reach, enhance participant engagement, and increase our ability to adapt. Ottawa South is embracing this plan and we will turn the change it brings into something good. Hybrid meetings People have started to join Rotary Ottawa South. Redesigning golf tournament Community blend- innovative approach to fundraising Plans for 2022-2023 include new and exciting partnerships with our community New social and outreach activities that give us the opportunity to invite others Community tree giveaway and exploring an international cook stove project

- Don't creep at stop signs or red lights.
- Don't use Drive-thrus.
- Have questions regarding an electric vehicle, speak to Bill or Sherri Kelly. They have done the research and are happy to share.
