Announcements
  • Joan told us that the Board has put measures in place for greater financial control and forecasting to ensure that the club continues in a financially healthy manner.
  • Joan informed us that the Board has ratified a decision made by the Polo in the Park committee not to hold the event this year.
  • Bernie updated us on our Golf Tournament Monday, June 3: still need 10 foursomes so contact your golf buddies now. See Gary to volunteer that day. Tee signs are only $150, consult the businesses you know.
  • Sell 3 dozen roses this week. (Melissa insists!)
  • Capital City Clean-up at corner of Bank Street and Rotary Way, April 27 form 9 - 11am. Go to online sign-up sheet.
  • Somali Hope Foundation annual gala: Saturday April 27 evening. See Joan for tickets, $100, now.
  • Ian is looking for bartenders for a car show Sunday, July 21. Lots of fun and a good fundraiser for the club.
  • Next week Janine will be talking about the focus of Rotary's international projects.

Happy Bucks
Gary encouraged our stories of happiness and gratitude as he collected our loonies.

50/50
Carlo presided over the 50/50 draw and Mack had the winning ticket (much to Sam's surprise). Mack drew the 3 of Spades so the Joker still lurks in the deck and the pot continues to grow. (Only $50 currently.)

General Assembly
Today was a general assembly for our club which involved much discussion and socializing.

We also discussed our new membership in the Ottawa Board of Trade, which Ian has set up. Members agreed that it would be good for us to attend as many meetings and functions as possible to promote Rotary, our club and fundraisers. Scott will be the main contact and set up a system for RCOS members to sign up for Board events to ensure we leverage this opportunity.

We discussed getting business cards for all members (with the existing invite to a lunch meeting on the back), Scott will attend to this.

President Joan ended the meeting promptly at 1:30pm
