Announcements

Next week:

Some of our members who attended District Conference 2020 will share information on the sessions they attended. Bill asked if these sessions were recorded. Joan said some of the sessions were recorded and they may be available on the district website.

Uganda Project Update:

Jeanine reported that we have pretty well lost our connection with the Rotary Club of Mbarara. Jeanine has been a part of the ‘Keeping Girls in School’ project for 12 years. She is rather "worn out."

A minimal response from clubs in our district last year has led her and the International Committee to, sadly, discontinue support at the end of this school year. Sam has said he will send this term's payment to Birere School by the end of the week. Club members had no negative response to the decision. Jeanine will contact the school, the contact Rotarian in Mbarara and KAWODE (our partners in Uganda) by phone and explain the situation.

Board Meeting:

Joan stated she has been trying to organize a board meeting but has not been successful in arranging one. One major issue to discuss is a clear account of the club’s financials.

Dictionaries:

Jeanine delivered dictionaries to R.E. Wilson School and left them at the front door. She will also deliver to Charles Hulse Public School this week. In past years, distributing these dictionaries has been a highlight for our club. Due to COVID-19 we are unable to enter the schools.

Happy, Sad Bucks:

Thankfully, we had many happy stories to share with each other.

Other News:

Jeff Sirrs mentioned a fundraiser the Rotary Club of Wasaga Beach has organized. You can check it out on corvettelottery.com. A possible idea for our club as we move forward.

We look forward to a good turn-out (tune-in?) for our meeting next week to review the District Conference and take-aways that might benefit our club and community.
