RoTell - June 30, 2021

Live at the Billings Estate, Ottawa
Editor: Scott Vetter, Photographers: David Oliver and Rosemary Parker

Change-Over 2021

A somewhat less-glamorous affair than previous years (skipping the non-affair due to COVID last year), this year's change-over meeting was also our first in-person meeting in almost 16 months. (That was a very long sentence, take a breath.)

Many members of Rotary Club of Ottawa South were able to make it in person on the grounds of the lovely Billings Estate in Alta Vista. The weather was wonderful, but Billings has a large permanent tent ready just in case the forecasted rain materialized.

Outgoing President Joan Hunter was presented with a lovely bouquet of flowers and much praise. In coming President, Dave Gough, a veritable bouquet of flowers himself, expressed his commitment and vision to furthering the ideals and growth of our club.

We also had the occasion to distinguish Rosemary Parker with the Paul Harris Fellow award. Rosemary has been with Rotary for six years and has been working for the Salvation Army for the past 14 years, the last eight with Community and Family Services. She serves several vulnerable families each week and helps them with basic necessities such as food and clothing. Rosemary takes great pride in serving her clients with dignity and respect, helping them become independent and self confident members of our community. She has been a tireless and reliable member of our club, leading and serving on many committees and events.
