Lunch meeting was held at KS on the Keys      Scribe: Scott Vetter

Guests
  • District Governor Sue Bellor
  • Assistant District Governor Hadi Mortada
  • Constable Mahamud Elmi (prospective member)
  • Miss Jessica Vallillee (Dan’s daughter)

Announcements
  • Hector and Joan visited Reg in the hospital. He seems to be doing much better and sends his regards and thanks to RCOS members.
  • Polo in the Park Ottawa update from Monique:
  • Launch on July 27 was not very well attended (thank you La Machine!), but it was well-planned and those who were there enjoyed it. Monique is negotiating with CTV for a spot on Morning TV Aug 10.
  • Need some more sponsorships and arena sign sales: look to your network to see who would benefit from this exposure and contact them asap. Keep Ian in the loop.
  • Everyone should start putting on a push to tell people about the event and actively sell tickets (Gen Adm is $20; children under 18 are free, VIP tables are $200, Picnic Baskets are $100)
  • Ian informed us that PITPO netted $9,000 last year. We’re looking to everyone to help us grow that considerably this year.
  • Bernie told us that the golf tournament earned $51,000 this year and thanked the golf committee and all volunteers for their dedicated service.
  • There is NO meeting next week. Instead, we’re invited to a party by the Ottawa Polo Club at Burritt’s Rapids at 2pm on Sunday August 13.
  • Check our website homepage for upcoming meetings and events.

Happy Bucks
Scott collected loonies from loonies who blabbered on about happiness and leprechauns.

50/50
Hector handled the 50/50 draw with panache and aplomb. President Joan had the winning ticket, but failed to locate the jocker in the deck (though she had a board table full of ‘em!).

Presentation from District Governor Sue Bellor

District Governor Sue Bellor spoke to our members about her goals and how our club can help grow Rotary this year. See attached PDF from DG Sue.

Sue highlighted DisCon2017 to be held at AKWASASNE MOHAWK CASINO & RESORT on September 29 and 30. She encouraged our members to attend and take advantage of this opportunity to learn and grow within Rotary.

She reminded us of the Million Dollar Dinner that is being held in Ottawa this year on November 4 at the Convention Centre. And that the District website is a great resource for these events and many more. We were all given the new Rotary: Making a Difference pins, and President Joan received a Women in ROtary pin from DG Sue.

President Joan ended the meeting promptly at 1:30pm.
