Hector took charge of the cards and dealt Julia a King, not the Joker (good if she was dating, not so good for winning the pot).

Happy Bucks
Ori collected loonies and happy thoughts from our members with great style and aplomb.

50/50
Rosemary dealt the deck for the 50/50 draw. Patrick had bought the winning ticket, but the buck stopped short of the winning card. The pot thickens.

Presentation on Survivor-Society.ca
Paul Leduc works for LiveWorkPlay, assisting mentally disabled people find jobs, but he was here today to tell us about the Survivor Society which he formed to help men who had suffered sexual abused as children. The startling statistics are 1 in 3 women and 1 in 6 men will be sexually abused before they are 18.

Paul was abused when he was young and suffered from PTSD, depression, anxiety, insomnia and had trouble finding reliable counselling and help due to lack of funds. After finding a counsellor to work with him pro bono, Paul spent 3 years finding himself and healing. He then set about helping others and started the Survivor Society.

It provides access and resources to therapy and teaches coping techniques as well as self-compassion. It is modeled on a simple 3-step process:
- we believe you / you have value
- we listen
- mentoring

It was a very informative, insightful and even inspiring presentation from an impressive individual.

Scott thanked our speaker.

President-elect Peter ended the meeting promptly at 1:30pm.
